Kansas City to host KC Presidents Day Volleyball Tournament, Feb. 18-20
The Heart of America Chapter of USA Volleyball will hold its 2012 Presidents Day Tournament in downtown Kansas City, Feb. 18-20. Attendance is expected to exceed 5,000. The competition, featuring teams of young women ages 12-18, is FREE and open to the public.
WHO
Headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colo., USA Volleyball is the national governing body for the sport of volleyball in the United States. Originally founded by the YMCA, this organization is responsible for fostering the development of volleyball within the U.S. through involvement with its 40 regional volleyball associations.
Heart of America Volleyball serves as the regional volleyball association for Kansas and Western Missouri, overseeing almost 200 area volleyball clubs.

ECONOMIC IMPACT
The Kansas City Convention & Visitors Association estimates the economic impact of the event at more than $1.15 million. This is based on spending by the attendees and the organization.
ARRIVALS & DEPARTURES
•Roughly 31 percent of the 5,000 attendees will travel from outside the Kansas City area.
•Approximately 95 percent of the attendees will arrive by auto, 4 percent by air and the remaining 1 percent will arrive by motorcoach.
•The heaviest arrival date is Saturday, Feb. 18.
•The heaviest departure date is Monday, Feb. 20.
HOTELS & FACILITIES
Attendees will be housed at the Aladdin Hotel & Spa, Crowne Plaza Kansas City – Downtown, Hampton Inn & Suites Merriam, Homewood Suites Kansas City Airport and Westin Kansas City at Crown Center.
AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION
Attendees are responsible for their own airport transportation.
SHUTTLE TRANSPORTATION
Teams are responsible for their own transportation inside the city.
EVENT SCHEDULE
Admission to the competition is free and open to the public. All matches will be played at the Kansas City Convention Center in Bartle Hall. Competition will begin at 7 a.m. and conclude at 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. On Monday, competition will begin at 7 a.m. and conclude at 7 p.m.
MEALS
Attention restaurants, a majority of the attendees and officials will be on their own for all meals during the event. Downtown restaurants should be prepared to host event attendees during breaks in competition, specifically from 1 to 4 p.m. and from 9 to 10:30 p.m., Saturday through Monday.

VISITOR INFORMATION
The KCCVA will staff a visitor information booth at the Kansas City Convention Center, Lobby 2200, during the event. Hours of operation are as follows:
•Saturday, Feb. 18: 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
CVA members may provide a limited supply of promotional coupons for Presidents Day Tournament attendees to be distributed at the Convention Center. Coupons (not to exceed 500) must be delivered to CVA offices prior to noon on Tuesday, Feb. 14.
