Regular Recruiter Position
Responsible for recruiting students to UMKC and representing the university in a positive and effective manner. Engage in activities designed to promote UMKC to prospective students, their parents and the community. Function as a member of a team to meet the enrollment management goals of the Office of Admissions and UMKC.
Responsible for making contact with potential UMKC students to provide information necessary to facilitate their enrollment at UMKC. Maintain contact with high school counselors to facilitate referral of students to UMKC. Set up and staff promotional booths, exhibits and displays at college fairs, conferences, and other public areas as assigned, distributing informational materials and answering questions as appropriate. Ability to lift and carry boxes or other objects weighing 30 pounds. Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary. Two years’ experience in admissions work, counseling, student programming or teaching in an academic setting is necessary. Excellent communication skills are necessary. Must have a valid drivers’ license recognized by the State of Missouri.
Multi-Cultural Recruiter Position
Initiate and coordinate culturally diverse recruitment programs for the Office of Admissions, performing a full range of admissions activities and responsibilities to promote the University to current and prospective students. Liaison with UMKC’s community relations office and community organizations to promote the University. Take the lead on training other recruiting staff within the office and campus-wide on issues and trends in the field of multicultural recruitment.
A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
Two years of experience in admissions work, counseling, student programming or teaching in an academic setting is necessary.
Excellent communication skills.
